NMWA -MAY 2016

Mark your calendar! On May 15, NMWA presents events connecting women and bicycles, including three screenings of Wadjda, a film about a girl living in the suburbs of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, who dreams of owning a bicycle. A Suffragist Social Bike Ride will make stops along landmarks of the women's liberation movement in downtown D.C. NMWA will also host a FRESH TALK program, a conversation with engaged advocates about the bicycle's ongoing role as an agent of social change, to be followed by a Sunday Supper served picnic-style

Brightest Young Things & the National Museum of Women in the Arts invite you to
Exclusively Inclusive, an after-hours event at NMWA on May 20. The evening is presented in conjunction with the contemporary photography exhibition
She Who Tells a Story: Women Photographers from Iran and the Arab World. This after-hours experience features access to the special exhibition and collection, FotoTalks curated by FotoDC and Women Photojournalists of Washington, DJ set by Bethany Cosentino of Best Coast, musical performances by exciting D.C.-area women, creative cocktails and food inspired by artworks, and more. Participants will examine a selected photograph from She Who Tells A Story: Women Photographers from Iran and the Arab World, read a short story, and explore an article that grounds the creative works in lived realities.
