The doors open at 3pm to begin a 5 week long exhibit featuring the works of over 350 of our area's visual artists, writers, musicians and live performers.  Our calendar is more than full this year with artist talks, workshops, performances, classes and more. Artomatic@Frederick 2016 has transformed two unoccupied buildings on East Church Street in downtown Frederick into a vibrant and diverse art showcase! WOMEN ON WHEELS
Mark your calendar! On May 15, NMWA presents events connecting women and bicycles, including three screenings of Wadjda, a film about a girl living in the suburbs of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, who dreams of owning a bicycle. A Suffragist Social Bike Ride will make stops along landmarks of the women's liberation movement in downtown D.C. NMWA will also host a FRESH TALK program, a conversation with engaged advocates about the bicycle's ongoing role as an agent of social change, to be followed by a Sunday Supper served picnic-style

AFTER HOURS AT NMWA Brightest Young Things & the National Museum of Women in the Arts invite you to Exclusively Inclusive, an after-hours event at NMWA on May 20. The evening is presented in conjunction with the contemporary photography exhibition

She Who Tells a Story: Women Photographers from Iran and the Arab World. This after-hours experience features access to the special exhibition and collection, FotoTalks curated by FotoDC and Women Photojournalists of Washington, DJ set by Bethany Cosentino of Best Coast, musical performances by exciting D.C.-area women, creative cocktails and food inspired by artworks, and more. We encourage you to use social media to share your Art Museum Day experiences on your social networks with the hashtag #ArtMuseumDay Reading Club:Politicized Bodies - May 23 Participants will examine a selected photograph from She Who Tells A Story: Women Photographers from Iran and the Arab World, read a short story, and explore an article that grounds the creative works in lived realities.
