Jurying expertise of Sharon Burton, artist, curator and art consultant, her mission is to create opportunity, recognition and commerce for women visual artists.
Sharon Burton, a WCA National member, brings her artistic spirit, insight and professional art consultancy experience to WCA-DC exhibits by enhancing not only our collective resume but your individual recognition as well.

“The Power Within” is what we pull from the inside to push us forward, fulfill our dreams, and overcome adversities, help and love life, family, friends, to give of ourselves as women. WCADC is looking for interpretations of this definition. The theme is not limited to this specific idea; it is open to many other ideas of the theme.

HOW TO SUBMIT ENTRY: Submit 3 digital entries to: wcadcorg@gmail.com Include “Entry Form” in the subject line.
In body of the e-mail include an image list. Include your name, Title of the piece. Medium, Height x Width in inches, information should correspond with the number on the image file. (image1, Michelle Doe, untitled, acrylic on canvas, 10” x 10”) REQUIRED: 150 words or less on how your work relates to the theme in the body of the e-mail
SIZING AND LABELING YOUR IMAGES:
Image files 300 ppi; no larger than 3MB, minimum 150 dpi; 1MB
Your files must be labeled: First name, Last name, number your images. (i.e., MichelleDoe1, MichelleDoe2, etc.)

NOTIFICATION: No later than July 30, 2014
ONLINE OPENING & RECEPTION - SEPTEMBER 2014 Reception will be held on a date and place to be determined.

About the Juror: Sharon Burton, is a Washington, DC based artist, art advisor and independent curator. She is the founder and Creative Director of SJB Creative Ventures, LLC which consists of two entities: Gemini Visions Art Studio (launched in 2007) which focuses on her own artistic endeavors as a mixed media/collage/assemblage artist and The Artinista Art Advisory (launched in 2012) with the mission to increase number of professional women art collectors to close the gender gap in fine art collecting through a variety of art consultancy services.
Ms. Burton served as the first curator of the Tubman-Mahan Art Gallery which was located within the Center of Green Urbanism in Washington, DC from 2010-2011 which she coordinated a variety of environmentally-themed exhibitions featuring local emerging artists. Between 2006-2010, Sharon served as an art curator, consultant, juror and intern to a variety of organizations and venues in the Washington, DC area including the former Ramee Art Gallery (Washington, DC), Overdue Recognition Art Gallery (Bowie, Maryland), the Millennium Arts Salon (Washington, DC), DC Chapter of the Women’s Caucus for Art, Liberated Muse Productions (Washington, DC), and Lil So So Productions (Washington, DC).
Sharon has contributed as blogger/arts correspondent highlighting local artists and exhibitions for online websites including the DC Examiner.com (DC Fine Arts Examiner 2010-11), LilSoSo.com (local entertainment website) and the former MahoganyButterfly.com. She is currently contributing as a blogger for a new online lifestyle magazine, Domicilemag.com focusing on highlighting local artists and art galleries in the Metro Washington, DC and Baltimore, Maryland area.

GALLERY B- BETHESDA ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT DISTRICT
Dear Local and Regional Artists,
The Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District and Bethesda Urban Partnership are accepting applications for Gallery B in downtown Bethesda!
This gallery, located at 7700 Wisconsin Avenue, Suite E in downtown Bethesda, is available to interested artists and arts organizations for one-month rentals. All media including, but not limited to, painting, photography and sculpture is eligible to use the space. Gallery B does not take a commission on any artwork sold during the exhibition.

We are seeking applications from local artists and arts organizations for month-long exhibitions in 2015. Gallery B has approximately 1,500 sq. feet of available exhibition space. The deadline for submission is July 17, 2014.
Gallery Space Available
The Sandy Spring Museum seeks artists for collaborative projects. They're converting a barn into studios and taking names for a waiting list. They have gallery exhibit space. And, they're also looking for artists who want to propose other projects - grounds installations, performance art, pop-up gallery, etc. They're open to ideas! DC Arts Studio, an arts incubator, has work spaces available for creative entrepreneurs, visual and performing artists. Located two blocks from Takoma Metro Station, spaces start at $200/month. Studio 1469, an artist studio in Columbia Heights, has an environment for unique events available for rent. A completely blank white box of 750 sq. feet is available for artistic media & performance disciplines. The Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture is seeking a visual artist to join the Park's Resident Artists and lease an individual studio space. Located in Glen Echo Park, a National Park site, the North Studio, part of the Yellow Barn building with direct access from the outside, is approximately 343 sq. feet and available for a minimum 1-year lease starting on September 1.
