CALL FOR ENTRIES

Open Regional Juried Art Exhibition:
Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware Artists

Exhibition Dates: June 25 – September 27, 2015

Opening Reception with Juror: Thursday, June 25, 6-8pm
Call Deadline: April 24, 2015

ELIGIBILITY:  Open to District of Columbia, Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware artists. Original hanging work created in any medium will be considered.

ENTRY FEE:  $40 for up to 5 pieces/$10 for each additional piece.  Payment through PayPal (which accepts all major credit cards).

GUIDELINES:  Artwork can be in any medium and must be delivered ready to hang using the Hill Center cable-and-hook system. Details will be provided to artists chosen to participate.  No size restrictions apply, as 14’ ceilings in some of the gallery space accommodate large pieces.  All artwork must be available for sale.

PRIZES:  Three cash prizes and five Honorable Mention awards will be made.  First place $1,000, Second Place $750, Third Place $500.

JUDGING:  The Exhibition will be juried by Mark Leithauser, Senior Curator and Chief of Design, National Gallery of Art.  Artists will be notified of Juror’s decision on/about May 14, 2015.

DELIVERY/PICKUP:  All work must be delivered to Hill Center on Sunday, June 21, between noon and 2 pm.  Work is to be removed on Monday, September 28 between 10 am and 3 pm.

LIABILITY:  Hill Center Galleries shall be responsible for the safekeeping of all Artworks while they are in its custody, as detailed in the Hill Center Consignment Agreement.

SALES:  All artwork in the exhibition will be available for sale.  Selected artists will be asked to sign the Hill Center Galleries Consignment Agreement.  Hill Center Galleries shall sell artwork at the sales price submitted in the on-line entry, plus applicable DC sales tax, and remit proceeds to the artist, retaining a 30% sales commission.  No price changes will be allowed after jurying is complete.

In celebration of National Women’s History Month, the Women’s Caucus for Art of Greater Washington (WCA/DC) will showcase fifteen women artists at Pyramid Atlantic Art Center.  Titled “Rewrite::Re-Righting: Prepare, Provoke, Prevail,” the exhibition makes a declarative statement on the role of women artists in 2015.
